How to get a credit on your utility
Drew wasn't home it was just our pet rats making noises.
I decided to write a list on how to get a credit on your bill.As sombody who is asked to give a credit 50 times in a work day I figure I might have some authority on this issue.
So you ordered an adult pay per view that your embarresed about, or have a long distance call to dispute, or were charged a service fee or late fee on your gas bill. you don't want to pay it and have decided to ask for a credit. well now here is your guide to the best way to get a credit.
1. Enter all the pertenant info on the phone, yes it's annoying but it brings up the account faster in a way that makes the representative happy that s/he doesn't have to type everything in themself.
2 Never forget your pin or secret passcode, without it you can't get in, don't argue or waste the reps time over it, just deal with it. When you get it, write it down somwhere it is necessary.
3 Be polite, happy, and own your mistake- don't lie about it. If you lie, your instantly hated,we have to untagle too much info when you lie to try to make you truthful, If your lying, there is just no way. Don't give us more work. We can tell when you lie cause we know everything we have the computers and the computers are never wrong.
4 Realize there is a limit to the amount of $ the rep is allowed to refund don't go asking for $300 when a rep only has $50 at max to credit. Also don't ask for a credit if your bill is past due, It's tacky, I'm more likley to credit a bill that is at a 0 balance than one that owes $500
5 keep it brief and be concise, the representitive gets in trouble if you take them over their "AHT" or average handle time. If you know it's gonna take 30 min to solve, take it to the office. For example my AHT for the day alloted is just over 5 min per call... at 4 minutes I'm already trying to finnish the call.
6 You will get further negotiating with the representative that answers the call than you will with a manager. The manager always sides with their employee, your a passing stranger to the manager. If you have asked to speak with a supervisor, you have crossed the line and probably have broken any chance of getting a credit, and it will mark your account as a problem person for future credits. you DO NOT want to talk to the manager.
7 Make sure there is no background noise. A television on, a child screaming, phone static, and even a cell phone with street traffic are all very annoying. When you work 8 hours with your ears, it is far more sensitive to these noises. If you follow all these rule above but have an annoying noise, thats enough for me to not want to give the credit.
8 Do not answer your call waiting beep, its rude and you will be hung up on.
If you follow all these rules, you could probably get a credit on just about anything, if you still get a no, it truly is because it is out of the representatives hands.
